International Symposium of Group Analysis

25-28 June, 2009, Dubingiai, Lithuania .

LANGUAGE IN THE GROUP, OF THE GROUP, BY THE GROUP

Lithuanian Group Analytic Society and Vilnius University invites practitioners, teachers and students of group analysis and group psychotherapy to International Summer Workshop of Group Analysis.

Language is the only means of the communication we use in GA, and it is also quite often an obstacle to communicate. It must be evaluated and considered in deeper sense of the processes it evolves. Also a lot of group analysts are trained in English, which in some cases was neither a mother tongue for trainees, nor for trainers, or at least for one of the sides. English is a language of the majority of GA events – what it means for our movement and therapy? These and all related topics should be the focus of our meeting. We will have an honour and a pleasure to listen to the presentations, among others, of Malcolm Pines (UK), John Schlapobersky (UK), and Ivan Urlic (Croatia), to participate in the optional workshops, to share our thoughts in the small discussion groups and to be together in the large group.

Language of the workshop – English.
